How to get around Ibiza: tips and discounts

Ibiza is a very small island: it’s very easy to explore it.

In this article we will talk about various options to move around Ibiza: whether by car, taxi, transfer, bus or boat, there are options for all tastes and needs.

Keep reading, and you will find some discounts on transport in Ibiza to enjoy the island at the best price.

Rental car: the best way to get around Ibiza

The best way to move around Ibiza is without a doubt, renting our own rental car to enjoy the island freely and at our own pace.

This is what I do every summer. It’s the ideal way to stay in hotels further away from the urban centers, find secret places and unique sunsets and at the same time, get away from the crowds.

Tip: If you visit Ibiza in August, car rental prices go up considerably (about € 1000 per week) so I recommend that you make your reservation in advance and take advantage of the 15% discount that I leave you below. Sometimes it’s impossible to rent a car in August as everything’s fully booked!

Tours: the best alternative to save time

If your trip to Ibiza is short and especially if you are staying in San Antonio, the option that best suits your needs is possibly to hire an excursion or day tour.

It’ss a great way to discover some of the most beautiful places on the island.

Here are some of the most popular and recommended activities:

Public transportation: the cheapest way to get around Ibiza

The cheapest option to get around Ibiza is, like almost everywhere else, the public bus.

However, the bus routes do not reach all the places you probably want to visit during your trip to Ibiza. Some beaches, sunset spots, even hotels and restaurants are not well served by public bus.

It can be a good alternative for a short trip to Ibiza, if you are traveling on a tight budget or if you do not have a driving license.

There is also a night bus (discobus) that connects with some of the most famous clubs on the island such as Amnesia and Privilege (closed in 2020/2021).

Taxis and private transfers privados: the most comfortable way to get around Ibiza

Another alternative of transport in Ibiza are taxis. Be careful, you must avoid illegal taxis.

Below you will find the approximate rates for regular routes in Ibiza:

  • Airport – Ibiza Town: 18€
  • Airport – San Antonio: 36€
  • Airport – Playa d’en Bossa: 14€
  • Ibiza Town – Santa Eulalia: 25€
  • Ibiza Town – San Antonio: 25€

You can download the Ibiza taxi app for  iOS or Android.

Another option that we tried was the private transfer service with Ibiza Vip Bus, who have a chauffeur service and luxury car rental (or even a minibus, perfect if you are organizing a group trip). They have a fleet and a service that advocates excellence and they are also the best option if you plan to celebrate your wedding in Ibiza: their classic cars are a dream.

Sailing boat: the coolest way to get around Ibiza

If you’re looking for a unique experience avoiding crowds, taking care of the environment and with the comfort of organizing accommodation, transfers and excursions in a single reservation, this is your option.

Host and Boat offers this unique experience on private boats, with or without a captain. They have more than 10,000 ships in 120 countries. We live the experience with them, sailing to Es Vedrá at sunset and spending the day on the beach of Ses Illetes in Formentera. A unique experience, and that is not as expensive as you imagine.
