Instagram spots in Mykonos island

Mykonos is one of the most visited islands in Greece (especially on a Mediterranean cruise) and attracts several types of people: groups of friends looking for party nights, honeymooners, cruise ship passengers visiting for just a day trip, families and of course, photographers, whether professional or amateurs.

Exploring the island is easy if you rent a car, quad or motorbike, and if you don’t want to drive you can even rely on the public bus. Mykonos town instead, is only accessible on foot. Walking its labyrinthine streets with all those picture-perfect corners is a photographers dream.

Instagram spots on Mykonos

The cobblestoned streets

The biggest tourist attraction on the island is Mykonos Town, also known as Chora.

Spend hours wandering on Mykonos streets, getting lost in its colorful maze: you’ll find bougainvilleas and pennants among shops of all kinds: you’ll love it!

Photo Tip: if you want the streets only for yourself, go for sunrise! Otherwise, the streets will be full of people and shops stalls.

The windmills

Only a few meters away from Little Venice, 5 mills stand on the top of a hill.

These mills are photogenic from different angles, both at sunrise or dusk. My favorite? The last one, from where you can get a different perspective of Little Venice.

Although the mills are no longer operational, the wind is still strong!

Little Venice

Close to the windmills, Mykonos has its own small version of Venice.

There, the fishermen’s cottages-built 2 centuries ago perch on the sea with their colorful balconies. Today these houses have become restaurants, cafes, and bars that offer some of the best sunsets on the island.

Paraportiani, the oldest church in Mykonos

The white and pristine church of Paraportiani is actually a set of 5 churches that were built one on top of the other. Its white color contrasts with the blue sky and is one of the most photogenic places on the island.

Visit Paraportiani in the morning to get the the best light.

#Happiness shop

How to make your store famous? Just name it #Happiness and it will become Instagram-famous! This really happened with this shop.

Visit this place during sunrise to capture it. The rest of the day is very crowded and all the shops are open.

Where to stay in Mykonos: Cavo Tagoo Mykonos

Cavo Tagoo Mykonos is one of the most luxurious, fashionable and also photogenic hotels in Mykonos.

Photo Tip: If Cavo Tagoo Mykonos is out of your budget, you can always access the main pool to have a cocktail and enjoy the sunset from there. 100% Recommended!
