Santorini Instagram Guide
Santorini is one of the most photogenic places in the world.
My first visit to this beautiful island has been way too short, but we have managed to come back with a million photos. Every corner is just picture perfect. I know I will come back again because I’ve fallen in love with this place.
If you’re planning to visit Santorini here you have an instagram guide with all the instagram spots in the island so you can find them all.
Keep reading because at the end of the post you’ll find a few tips to get the best photos.
Instagram Spots in Santorini
The blue domes in Oía
This is the postcard place that does to our mind first when we think about Santorini. This place is located in the beautiful Oía and it looks idyllic, but you may have to queue to take this photo. Bring a bag of patience!
Where: turn left on the narrow street at the Bvlgari jewelry.

These pink flowers are everywhere you go n Santorini but the most photogenic in the island lays next to this rope ladder and this lovely bike. It’s in one of the most luxurious areas in Oía, next to the hotel Katikies.
Where: Passagio Bites & Drinks, Nik. Nomikou.
The Red Beach
Who said Santorini beaches were not worth it? It’s true that other islands in Greece have more beautiful beaches, but Red Beach in the south of Santorini is really impressive. Don’t miss out!
Find an infinity pool
If you can, add an infinity pool with a view to the caldera to your itinerary. The best views are located in Oía, Imerovigli and Akrotiri.
Where: Astarte Suites, Caldera – Akrotiri.
Skaros Rock Trekking
If you thought you were not going on a hike while in Santorini, you were wrong. One of the most popular routes goes from Imerovigli to Skaros Rock. Bring water with you!
Another possible route starts in Fira and ends up in Oía. IT takes up to 4 hours and you will find many little villages and stunning cliffs on the way.
Theoskepasti was my favorite church. It’s located in the lowest point of Skaros Rock, right in front of the sea. Dare to climb to the roof to enjoy the view and the wind: it’s amazing over there.

Happy Friday everyone! I'm going to Porto for the weekend 🇵🇹 What are your weekend plans? Tell me 👀 . 📷 @alexandrsupertramp .
Fira is Santorini’s capital city and it welcomes the majority of tourists after Oía. You can enjoy the sunset in incredible places like the old church, just avoid the main street.

Sunset in Oía
Getting this image is not a simple task. Oía’s castle ruins gather every day hundreds of people reunited for sunset – it can be a very stressful experience. At the end of this post you will find my advice.
Personally, I’d rather enjoy the sunset from Imerovigli without others pushing for a photo.
Breakfast with a view in Imerovigli
Imerovigli is the highest point in Santorini and it has one of the best views to the caldera. It’s also the best alternative to Oía. There’s no better way to start the day than with this incredible breakfast with a view.
Where: Kasimatis Suites, Imerovigli
Atlantis Books Bookshop
The most charming library in Oía, with first editions, cats and lovely staff. The terrace has a beautiful view!
Where: Nomikos Street.
Santorini Photo tips
If you can, avoid Santorini high season
Peak season in Santorini starts in June until early October. My next time in the island I’ll try to go in May or October, when the island is not fully booked and hotel prices are more affordable.
Be an early bird
Santorini welcomes millions of tourists every summer. Avoid them waking up for sunrise. It’s the only way to get the have the streets only for yourself.
Santorini is not just Oía
Oía is the most famous area in Santorini but visit more. Imerovigli can be more memorable during sunset, and lesser known places as Megalochori, Karterados and Akrotiri also have picture perfect places.
Avoid weekends and cruise ships
Try to avoid cruiships. The passengers visit Oía in groups, making it really difficult to walk the narrow street. They’re also in Fira near the cable car station.

If you want to enjoy the sunset from Oía’s castle, go there at least 2 or 3 hours in advance and bring something to eat and drink. There will be people coming, pushing, stepping on you, trying to squeeze for a photo. But right after the sun goes down, they will leave and just a few people stay for the blue hour.
The best sunsets in Santorini can be found in Oía, Imerovigli, Fira and Akrotiri.
No high heals, please
Bring comfortable shoes for the cobblestoned streets in Santorini. King to Skaros Rock is not difficult… I made it wearing sandals and a dress!
If you take a drone to Santorini…
… beware that you won’t be allowed to use it, in certain areas it’s forbidden.
Don’t forget to enjoy
You are in Santorini! Remember to leave your camera away for a few hours a day to enjoy your holidays. Enjoy your time and do not worry if you cannot take all the photos you planned… you’re there to create memories 🙂
